There is no question! I firmly believe that smoking does nothing positive for anyone. I also believe that people who do are just kidding themselves. We all have our vices. Smoking should not be one of them. Now, I don't go telling people I don't know that they shouldn't smoke. 1 - I don't know them. 2 - It's none of my business. 3 - you're an adult and damn well know what it does to you. I also don't tell people to not smoke if they're near me in bars or whatever. Smokers do have a right to smoke where it is allowed by law - I either reposition myself so your 2nd hand is not trailing up my nostrils doing twice the amount of bodily harm or I start waving my hand back and forth to combat the fumes (not to mention give you a few dirty looks). But if you're someone in my family or a good friend of mine - you bet your bottom I'm gonna tell you where to stick that cigarette. Put it out, don't do it...period. I care about these people in my life that think, "I only do it once in a great while." Or someone who says, "But it relieves my stress and you know how stressful my life is." Well dear family member or friend - you're gonna be stressing a lot more in the future if you end up with cancer. And you're gonna be stressing more right now since I'm about to get pissed at you if you don't change your ways. I know I can't control the people in my life.  But they, like me are full grown adults that know the risks. It's like bunjee jumping. Sure...maybe once a year you jump for the thrill...the risks of you dying are relatively low since you don't do it everyday. But if you start tethering yourself to a rubberband weekly or daily your chances of going 'splat' sky rocket! Same with smoking. This blog is not trying to teach a lesson to anyone (but if one of you out there does end up quitting on the count of my blog let me know). It is my rant about something that bothers me. So I'm not going to end this message with: "To all you smokers out there..." Instead I will just sit here in waiting and hope that this message eventually reaches the people it's meant for.
