Important for pet owners!
A story on MSNBC caught my eye today. Diamond Pet Foods has a major recall on their dog and cat food from October. Pets who have eaten the food from this batch are getting sick and dying from liver disease. This is apparently being caused by a toxic fungus found on corn grains. And they say this toxin is naturally occuring. If this is known, why weren't they doing testing on the batches of corn grain before using it in the food? Or testing the food after production before it's shipped out? NO. They shipped it all out and poor pet owners and their pets had to find out the hard way. This is just unfortunate incident that didn't have to happen. The company says they'll pay for all medical bills for pets that need treatment. But that just doesn't make up for their negligence. We can only hope that other reputable pet food companies frequently test their products for this toxin and others. We're putting our pets lives in their hands when we serve their product - a pet can't live on table scraps alone (though they'd probably want to! Smiley) Check your pet food to see who the manufacturer is!
